From live DJs to foam bubbles and zydeco rhythms, the streets were buzzing. The party kicked off at 4 p.m. with Roper Romp, where kids danced in foam while the music kept things lively. By 6 p.m., zydeco filled the air.
Three ordinances were introduced during a special Bastrop City Council meeting addressing solar farm development, sales tax amendments, and zoning regulations on Thursday, April 17.
This year’s funds will support the GAP Scholarship Fund, student engagement initiatives, academic excellence, access and opportunity, presidential priorities and Tiger Athletics.
For some, the race was deeply personal. One runner honored her late mother, who stayed active during her battle with cancer. “She rode 25 miles on her Peloton a month before she passed. I wanted to embody her spirit today,” she said.
Mitchell, founder of the organization, described the feast as more than just a meal. It’s about fostering unity. “We’re doing a community feast to get people of all races together in unity,” she said.
