The 115th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament begins tonight with three of Hancock County’s four programs beginning play in the Muncie Central and Shelbyville sectionals.

FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon’s boys basketball team led by 12 points in the fourth quarter, but Westfield’s Durante Morton put his team on his back to force overtime, and the No. 4 Shamrocks used the extra session to defeat the No. 18 Marauders 62-58 at Mt. Vernon High School Tuesday evening.

INDIANAPOLIS — To earn championships at the Purdue Polytechnic Sectional, Greenfield-Central and New Palestine boys wrestlers had to do what they’ve done much of this season — wrestle each other.

GREENFIELD — Emily Logan’s Greenfield-Central girls swimming and diving teams have won 11 straight sectional championships.

They’re the trailblazers of their sport.
