Detectives are exploring a broad range of possible motives for Jill Dando’s murder. However, the more time elapses after her death, the less likely her killer is to be caught. The first 48 hours - when murderers are most likely to be apprehended - have now passed. Moreover, there is a growing chance that her killer is no longer alive: 6% of murderers commit suicide before their cases come to trial, and almost one third take their own lives eventually.
