The Town has been working towards the closure of its decades-old landfill for several years. This was not a local decision, it was made necessary by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment.

A Women’s Empowerment event was held at Rainbow Hall in Canora, beginning with a daytime market followed by evening dinner featuring a session with Dr. Rose Backman, sharing her expertise from 35 years in kinesiology.
The presentation was geared toward students in kindergarten to Grade 4 with a focus on fire safety, fire prevention and overall emergency preparedness in the school, in the community, and at home.
The SADD Chapter at Canora Composite School brought home the message to students and staff throughout the week with the theme, “One choice can change everything.”

Principal Derek Serdachny accepted the cheque on behalf of Canora Composite School, and made it clear that the funding will have a large and positive impact for the school.
It’s not technically ‘new,’ but the Invermay & District Fire Department is looking forward to making use of their recently purchased fire truck, a 2002 Superior Fire Engine.
