The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for all but the southernmost counties of Vermont, advising that the heaviest rain could fall between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said the state could see 1-3 inches of rain, with up to 4 inches in some areas. Heavy winds could cause power outages and tornadoes could materialize in southern and western Vermont.
The University of New Hampshire Survey Center also found that incumbents in Vermont — along with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris — were highly favored to win the state.
The Progressive and Democratic incumbent fell 6,000 votes short of his Republican challenger Tuesday. Though he said he would not call for a recount, he suggested the Legislature could reverse the voters’ decision.
Since the Legislature has adjourned for the biennium, there’s not much the Senate could do to stop her appointment — and one Democratic leader said he was inclined to give Saunders time to prove herself.
Vermont State Police warned members of the public not to approach the suspect, whom they identified as Scott Mason, 38, of St. Johnsbury, saying he should be considered armed and dangerous.
