A week ago we were getting ready for snow. Today, many folks were walking on the beach. But we do have some big temperature swings on the way, plus the chance for dangerous wildfires on Wednesday.
A fast-moving winter storm will bring accumulating snow to much of our region, including as much as 6 inches for the Outer Banks. Arctic air means anything that falls will stick around for awhile.

A cold front will usher in some very chilly air heading into the weekend. Saturday will be windy and cold, with high temps only in the lower 40s. Expect wind chills in teens when you wake up Sunday.
Expect one more unusually mild December day before a series of cold fronts sends temperatures tumbling. By the start of Christmas week on Sunday, we can expect high temperatures only in the 30s.
