Arlington, Bartlett and Lakeland could emerge as the suburban municipalities
that benefit most from Blue Oval City given its proximity to the Haywood County
Memphis Regional Megasite.
The unanimous vote by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at
Bartlett City Hall followed similar opposition by Collierville and Germantown
governments a day earlier.
The Midtown-based comic store closed for two months at the pandemic’s onset in
the spring of 2020, then adjusted to its new reality by offering services such
as curbside pickup.
As reporter Bill Dries notes, “Several generations of Memphians grew up with
fond memories of going to their neighborhood park and participating in a pageant
or being in a softball league.”
Youth Villages Chief Development Officer Richard Shaw said actress Melissa Joan Hart has worked with the organization supporting them through various initiatives for six years.
A Frayser park previously appreciated by residents and community members alike for its baseball and softball fields have more to anticipate once construction on the project is complete.
Now with Ford Motor Co. set to build a plant in Haywood County by 2025,
Bartlett’s CNC machinery may also help provide hands-on learning for students to
prepare for jobs in the automotive industry.
Rodney Baber Park on James Road was permanently altered after the 2011 floods
that ravaged Shelby County. A once vibrant park now waits for the necessary
adjustments to make comparable or better than its previous version.
