Kelvin Roemer started collecting sports cards around 45 years ago after his wife said he needed a hobby. When his card collection got too big, she suggested opening a store. The next show is Saturday.

Kids gathered in Wascana Park with their stuffed animals to learn about different health-care procedures. The idea behind the event is to reduce any fear surrounding trips to the hospital or doctor for kids.

The upgrades make the space feel more comforting and welcoming, including additional plants and flowers, lighting, seating and five pieces of art created by local artists.

"The interior of the house is completely devastated," said farmer Barrett Eberle. "There aren't many windows left in the house. The roof is gone ... There are cracks all over the drywall."

Environment Canada's Kyle McAulay said tornadoes potentially touched down near Estevan, Regina and Saskatoon. He couldn't confirm touchdowns or damages but said more information will be available Friday.

The centre closed in March to deal with smoke damage from a neighbouring fire. The reopening comes while the Queen City is dealing with an overdose alert, which left four people dead in just a week.

According to SPSA, rain, favourable winds, cooler temperatures and fires reaching natural barriers like bodies of water have slowed down the growth of some fires.

The seven-foot monument was unveiled on May 3 in Victoria Park and is dedicated to the estimated 12,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit military veterans who all enlisted voluntarily.
