    Summer is an ideal time to relax at home, travel, or work a job, but often means leaving behind your college friends for over two and a half months. When I first come home, I always enjoy the first couple weeks of hanging out with my family and high school friends but I quickly begin to miss my BC friends immensely. Now that summer is almost halfway over, I have begun to count down the days until I am back on the Heights with my friends and roommates. Despite missing BC and my BC friends a lot, it can be really hard to stay connected with each other between traveling, working, or other summer activities.     When Professor Maira Marques Samary arrived at Boston College in 2019 as a visiting assistant professor in the computer science department, she said she knew her chance to run the marathon had come.Samary said that, at first, she tried to qualify for the marathon for two years, but she found it to be difficult. She could not keep up with the rigorous training schedule, she said, while trying to be a good professor and taking care of her two kids. That’s when Samary decided to take the fundraising route, she said.
