South Dakota billionaire philanthropist T. Denny Sanford has given $20 million to help pay for a new, indoor track and field center at the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion. The facility will be called the Gassen Family Fieldhouse, named for Bill and Jill Gassen. Bill Gassen is president and CEO of Sanford Health, the Sioux Falls healthcare system named for T. Denny Sanford, while Jill is a physicians assistant with the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls. Both the Gassens are USD alumni and were on the college's track and field team, USD said this week in an announcement.
