The U.S.-based home-sharing and alternative accommodation giant saw revenue
increase by 70% year-over-year and 80% higher than corresponding quarter in 2019
($839 million).
The new boss is currently chief operating officer at the Booking Holdings-owned,
Asia Pacific-focused online travel agency, taking on the new role from July 1.
AMIVAC also owns and operates the Vacances and Vacances SeLoger websites, with a
particular focus on its domestic market in France as well as other having
properties in other countries.
The alternative accommodation platform has over 1,000 properties in more than
100 cities in the U.S. and Mexico, with ambitions to use the new funding round
to expand the business into new markets.
Dave Shirk will also step down as president of the Travel Solutions arm of the
business. He will continue to serve as a senior advisor to Menke and Ekert
through 2022.
Data from private accommodation specialist Vacasa indicates a shift in the
median booking window from 20-30 days in 2020 to 35-40 days in Q1 of this year.
The move comes almost six months on from Tripadvisor disclosing the beta testing
of Reco in the U.S., costing consumers $199 for each trip that they make.
