US retailers left with few options around Trump tariffs: AAFA CEO

President-elect Donald Trump referenced levying heavier tariffs on his campaign trail, but will he follow through on his promises upon reentering the White House? Market Domination speaks with American Apparel & Footwear Association CEO and President Steve Lamar to discuss how retailers are bracing for Trump's tariff policy proposals. "We don't have the scale and capability or the skill set even to really bring the, the production back to the US. So they [retailers] looked for other ways to do it," Lamar tells Yahoo Finance. "But by and large, what you saw was tariffs being imposed on products that ultimately, in many cases, made their way to consumers in the form of higher prices." Lamar explains to Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton why there are "really no good options" as heightened tariffs would impact a wide array of consumer good imports, reminding that "relocating production back to the US at that level of scale isn't really an option." Although, Lamar also explores potential actions in reshoring production

Qualcomm CEO details how new markets will generate $22B in new revenue

Qualcomm (QCOM) unveiled new financial targets and said its push into new markets could lead to an additional $22 billion in annual revenue by 2029. The announcement highlights Qualcomm's efforts to expand outside of the smartphone business, which accounted for roughly 75% of its chip business in fiscal 2024. Key areas that Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon highlighted during the event included autos and internet of things. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon sat down with Julie Hyman just after his investor day presentation and explained how the company will meet the new targets in three key areas: PC, virtual reality and industrial. "Those three combined with the rest of IoT and autos are going to drive a diversification of Qualcomm to have, by the end of the decade, mobile is going to be 50% or less," Amon Said. With this new outlook, the guidance suggests that mobile revenue may be relatively flat over the next year. But Amon said the company is being conservative and sees opportunity coming from artificial intelligenc

Nvidia grows revenue in Q3 beat. How is the stock reacting?

Nvidia (NVDA) is out with its third quarter earnings release, topping both revenue ($35.1 billion vs. $33.25 billion expected) and profit (adjusted earnings of $0.81 per share vs. $0.74 expected) estimates. $30.8 billion is attributed to Nvidia's data center business alone. Despite the beat, Nvidia shares are falling into the red in extended trading hours as the chip giant forecasts $37.5 billion in revenue for the current fourth quarter, above Wall Street's estimates of $37 billion. Many analysts were arguing that Nvidia's stock reaction would weigh heavily on how much it would outperform estimates and guidance forecasts. Market Domination Overtime hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton sift through Nvidia's earnings figures and the projected demand the Blackwell AI chips should bring to the company in coming quarters. Chip stocks: What sets Marvell Technology apart from ASML

While Wall Street patiently awaits Nvidia's (NVDA) third quarter earnings due out this Wednesday, what are other viable semiconductor stocks for investors seeking to explore the industry? Spear Invest Founder and CIO Ivana Delevska joins Julie Hyman on Yahoo Finance's Good Buy or Goodbye to talk about these two chip stocks: Marvell Technology (MRVL) and ASML Holding (ASML). "The two players are Marvell and Broadcom (AVGO). I think they're both well-positioned to benefit. But Marvell is just a smaller company, so it will be just a bigger piece of their revenue base," Delevska explains, labeling Marvell as her Good Buy based on its positioning in the AI GPU (graphics processing unit) boom. On the other hand, ASML is Delevska's Goodbye stock as the chip equipment industry seems unable to keep up with the advances of the broader chip sector, while also facing certain export controlls: "So China represented as much as 49% of revenues at some point earlier this year. With the restrictions, that's now down to close

Bitcoin is 'risky,' but not a risk-on asset: BlackRock strategist

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) and other crypto-related assets have rallied following President-elect Donald Trump's win as the second Trump administration is expected to be crypto-friendly. BlackRock head of digital assets Robbie Mitchnick joins Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton on Market Domination Overtime to discuss his perspective on the crypto space and the "critical" distinction that bitcoin is a risky asset, not a risk-on asset. "I think obviously the election and the sort of confidence and optimism that the market has had coming out of that for bitcoin and crypto as a part of it. I also think, frankly, 2024 was probably a tough year for bitcoin [excluding] the ETFs happening," Mitchnick explains, "because you had the confluence of higher interest rates for longer than was expected, you had four bankruptcy liquidations that were a decade in the making that had been sort of constant selling pressure in the market. That was sort of offset by the new access that the ETFs had created."  Mitchnick believes there to be a

RFK Jr.'s HHS nomination sparks concern over pharma stocks

President-elect Trump’s decision to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) has sparked concerns, particularly about his skepticism toward the pharmaceutical industry and GLP-1 drugs. Raymond James managing director and Washington Health Policy research analyst Chris Meekins joins Asking for a Trend Co-hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton, sharing that Kennedy's lack of executive experience raises concerns about his ability to advance policy, including securing Medicare coverage. Despite these issues, Meekins suggests that the recent sell-off in pharmaceutical and GLP-1 stocks may be an overreaction. “The sell-off we've seen might be a little bit overdone compared to what the reality could end up at the end of the day,” Meekins said.
