    Active NY real estate investment firm buys Shelton multifamily complex for $24M

    A multifamily property in Shelton has been sold for $24.3 million to a New York real estate investment firm that has been active in Connecticut. The 99-unit Huntington Townhomes complex at 100 Avalon Drive was sold earlier this month by Illinois-based SW Connecticut Multifamily Exchange LLC, an affiliate of Inland Private Capital Corp., to Huntington Townhomes Owner LLC and principal Gideon Z. Friedman of New York, according to city and state records.

    City officials and local business leaders were on hand Tuesday for the opening of a new woman-owned independent small business in Fair Haven, where major neighborhood improvements are planned. Evelyn Jimenez is the owner of J&M Home Appliance, at 302 Grand Ave., in the Fair Haven neighborhood of New Haven. J&M will sell and service home appliances.   New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker touted this shop as one of only a few independently owned appliance stores in the Elm City.

    Massachusetts-based Consigli Building Group, Inc., with offices in Hartford, has completed its acquisition of Lendlease's construction operations in the Northeast, the company announced this week. Lendlease is a global real estate group headquartered in Sydney, Australia.  Lendlease’s New York and New Jersey operations include more than 400 employees and jobs that are associated with approximately 45 current, under contract and pre-construction projects. The portfolio of work is valued at more than $1.8 billion, officials from both companies said.

    Multifamily complex planned for Newhallville section of New Haven

    A city-based development company is planning a new multifamily apartment and townhouse complex for the Newhallville section of New Haven. An application to the City Plan Commission from The Glendower Group shows plans for a four-story, 71,600-square-foot building with 63 units at 201 Hazel St. The Glendower Group is the development arm of the New Haven Housing Authority and is affiliated with the Elm City Communities agency. The city is listed as owner of the 1.5-acre, wooded parcel that runs adjacent to the Farmington Canal Trail and between Hazel and Ivy streets.

    Vessel eyes West Hartford for next multifamily project

    A New York-based development firm with numerous multifamily housing projects in the state is eyeing its next building in West Hartford. Vessel Technologies this week will present to the West Hartford Design Review Advisory Committee an overview of a potential new land use application for a residential project at 29 Highland Ave. Vessel has not yet submitted a formal land use application, and company executives plan to meet with committee board members for an informal “study session” on the potential project.

    A multifamily development firm with high-profile projects in New Haven and statewide has partnered with another company to revive a dormant apartment project in the Elm City.  Norwalk-based Spinnaker Real Estate Partners recently teamed with New York-based real estate development and investment firm Epimoni on a plan to build market-rate apartments at 20-30 Fair St., in the Wooster Square neighborhood of New Haven. Darren Seid and Epimoni had plans for the 186-unit project approved by the City Plan Commission in 2021, but the development did not take shape.

    A California-based medical technology company backed by private equity has acquired Connecticut-based medical devices manufacturer Hobson & Motzer Inc., the companies announced Tuesday. Vantedge Medical, an affiliate of private equity firm Aterian Investment Partners, has purchased Durham-based Hobson & Motzer, which was founded in 1912 and makes precision medical devices for the global surgical stapler market. Hobson & Motzer’s core capabilities include CNC machining, stamping, tooling and other finishing and assembly services.
