Ernie Oliver, who played a pivotal role in the re-emergence of schools football in Rotherham and Doncaster, passed away in the spring, aged 73. The two places’ schools football associations decided to hold a memorial trophy for Ernie each season involving all first teams from U9-U15s. A points system is taken from each game to decide who wins the trophy. The Rotherham Harrier headed to West Yorkshire for the Marsden Madness 20-mile trail race and came home first in a time of 2:56.48.
