Texas announced on Tuesday that is has hired Margueritte Bates to be its next soccer coach. Bates spent the past four seasons at UCLA, and she won a national championship with the Bruins in 2022.

Texas was ranked 10th by the College Football Playoff committee on Tuesday evening. It was also projected that UT would face a first-round matchup at No. 7 Ole Miss if the playoffs started today.

If Texas wins out, that should surely be enough to secure the Longhorns a spot in the College Football Playoff bracket. As for the SEC championship game? Well, that's a different story.

On Friday night, No. 4 Texas (1-0) will host No. 24 Richmond (1-0). Richmond marks the first of 13 games that Texas will play this season against teams that were ranked by the AP in the preseason.

On track to graduate this upcoming spring from the McCombs School of Business, Texas senior Sarah Graves still sees a future in basketball. That future, though, may not include shorts and shoes.
