U.S. stocks appeared set to rally Wednesday after Donald Trump won the U.S. election.

Ahead of U.S. Election Day and the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates, “bond vigilantes” appeared to be in “the driver’s seat” for the market, according to Yardeni Research.

U.S. stocks closed mixed Friday as Treasury yields pressed higher and investors weighed fresh economic data ahead of next week’s jobs report.

“The shape of the U.S. equity market has undergone a massive change over just the last few years,” says BlackRock’s Rachel Aguirre.

The U.S. stock market appears to be taking a breather from setting fresh highs as interest rates in the bond market climb, leaving the S&P 500  sharply lower Wednesday.

With the U.S. presidential election just two weeks away, Deutsche Bank Research found the S&P 500 has seen a long stretch of annualized double-digit returns under different White House administrations — with two exceptions since 1933.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 were each trading in record territory on Friday afternoon as the U.S. stock market broadly rose. The Dow was up 0.2% at around 43,306, while the S&P 500 was gaining 0.5% to trade around 5,870, according to FactSet data, at last check.
