George Loder’s former supervisors, then-Sgt. Michael Johnston and retired Lt.
Scott Ireland, said that the former trooper’s allegations took them by
completely by surprise.
That comes after a federal jury this month found that the Maine State Police
retaliated against a former trooper who pushed back against practices he
believed were illegal.
Officials have disclosed few public details about the progress of their plans, refused to answer specific questions about their priorities and made inconsistent comments about their timeline.
Maine police and corrections officers can currently sexually harass their colleagues, ridicule people based on their race or disabilities without jeopardizing their license to serve in law enforcement.
