Devils Lake was much lower in those days, but pike and walleye populations were much lower, too. The lake also had “unbelievable groceries” – especially freshwater shrimp.

There were three units this year – 2E north of Devils Lake, 2G1 in the southeast and 2L around Devils Lake – where no deer gun licenses were available in the general lottery.
