‘This is a tense life’: Teenager speaks from Gaza’s bombed humanita...

A teenager from north Gaza has shared what her life is like living in a tent after she was displaced under Israeli bombardment. Enas Tantesh is 17 years old and lives in the Al Mawasi so-called humanitarian zone. “This is a tense life... You cannot set a routine, you cannot do whatever you want. You might be displaced or even die at any moment,” she said. Enas was displaced after Israel unleashed its heaviest-ever bombardment of Gaza and a siege last October after Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking 251 as hostages, according to Israeli estimates. Since then, Israel’s retaliatory bombardment of Gaza has killed almost 42,000 people, the majority women and children, according to the Palestinian health ministry. A further 10,000 are thought to be under the rubble and an unknown number have been taken into Israeli detention.

Watch: Israeli hostages’ families march to Netanyahu’s home on 7 Oc...

Families of Israeli hostages held captive by Hamas today marched to Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem to demand the prime minister sign a deal to bring the remaining 101 hostages home. At 6.29 am on Monday, the exact moment Hamas’s 7 October attack started a year ago - they played an air raid siren - and held a minute of silence to remember the victims and hostages. Among those marching included Shir Siegel, the daughter of American-Israeli hostage Keith Siegel, who was seized by Hamas militants from Kibbutz Kfar Azar. Ms Siegel said: “I couldn’t have imagined in my worst nightmares that a year would pass and my father would not be home. “He has been sitting in the tunnels in Gaza and nobody has come to save him.”
