The Georgia division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans has filed a new lawsuit
challenging the removal of a Lost Cause monument from the Decatur square.
A manual recount of nearly 5 million Georgia ballots continued Monday, an effort
to confirm presidential election results in the race between Democrat Joe Biden
and Republican Donald Trump.
Georgia’s vote count continued Thursday as election officials worked to finish
processing absentee ballots in tightening races for president and U.S. Senate.
Fulton, Clayton, Chatham, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties all were counting
absentee ballots late Wednesday. Statewide, there were about 90,000 ballots that
needed to be counted, according to the secretary of state’s office.
A box rose a few days ago around the base of a Confederate statue in downtown
Macon, soon to be covered by colorful images and bright-yellow lettering that
read “Justice for All.”
Tia Young and Harvey Timothy Lee have been convicted of killing George Young,
Tia’s husband. George Young was shot in the face and chest on his front porch in
Buford on the evening of Nov. 16, 2017. His keys were still in the front door as
he died on the steps.
All 51 candidates competing for the title of Miss America 2019 are pretty darn
