Dexter Carr is Loving Himself and the Industry

Dexter Carr has been killing it in the social media scene with his viral dancing videos garnering millions of views. Dexter has been killing it in the dance scene as one of the most in-demand teachers and performers, having worked with Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Megan Thee Stallion, Missy Elliot, Katy Perry, Kelly Rowland, Billy Porter, and Tinashe, just to name a small few. And now he is killing in the TV scene. Hulu’s latest reality show, Playground, is an intimate and challenging look at the lives of the dancers who work at Los Angeles's premier dance studio, owned by dance vets Robin Antin and Kenny Wormald. As the only queer and Black male dancer in the cast, there’s a lot of pressure in the spotlight. He handles it well. Despite his rise to fame, he is centered, down to earth, and grateful for his journey.

Rachel Stavis- Sister of Darkness

In the spirit of the Halloween season, Hollywood is doing their part to keep audiences scared, paranormal shows on TV are becoming extremely popular, and obsession with the unknown and unexplained is at an all-time high. Emerging from the manufactured and the camp is real-life exorcist Rachel Stavis. Keeping her abilities undercover and by word of mouth, she has come out, so to speak, to share her story and mental health awareness with the world. Some people call them demons, and some people call them entities, but yes, according to Rachel, they are real and they are everywhere. She is the only non-denominational exorcist with her level of power and whether or not you believe in what she does or what she sees, her views on life can serve as inspiration for anyone as she talks about coming to understand the negative energy within, how it can manifest itself from grief, trauma, and life’s experiences, and how raising your frequencies are instrumental in improving your physical and mental health.

Alonso Duralde is Delving Into Cinematic Queer Legacy

There are cinephiles, and then there are cinephiles. Alonso Duralde’s entire life is centered on films. He is the chief U.S. film critic of The Film Verdict, he co-hosts the Linoleum Knife, Maximum Film!, and Breakfast All Day podcasts, and appears regularly on Deck the Hallmark pod – all having to do with some genre of films, of course. If that weren’t enough podcasts about movies, he launched The Film Library with Kanopy.com, discussing films that matter from the platform’s library of over 30K movies, all free to students and library card holders. His extensive knowledge of all things films has made him an expert commentator on CNN, PBS, TCM, and ABC, to name a few, as well as appearing in numerous documentaries. To celebrate this year’s Pride, Alonso released perhaps his most ambitious book to date, Hollywood Pride: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Representation and Perseverance in Film. The book catalogs the life stories and movies of Hollywood’s queer contingent from behind and in front of the camera

Miss Tosh is the Beauty of Burlesque

This holiday season, Voss Events, responsible for stage shows like RuPaul's Drag Race Werq The World Tour and Los Angeles’ Vault Speakeasy, transforms 26,000 square feet at 548 West 22nd Street in New York City into a burlesque holiday fantasy, both fanciful and sensual, for its fourth annual Santa’s Secret. One of the show’s headliners is internationally acclaimed burlesque star, Miss Tosh, who returns to the show hot off the heels of a multi-show run in Los Angeles. She is the queen of glitz and glamour who is challenging the norms of burlesque by promoting inclusivity and diversity. Known as the LGBTQ + Glambassador, she proudly promotes her queer style and sensibility, fighting stereotypes along the way. She also uses the art form and celebrates sexuality as a form of women empowerment. Burlesque became prevalent in the United States in the late 1800s, first introduced in the 1860s by a British dance troupe. The women were seen as fearless and they turned the tables on the upper class using high gla

For this Hollywood Personality it’s Time for a Fresh Start After Br...

The New Year started off with the world witnessing headlines about the fires in Los Angeles that have decimated over 50,000 acres and killed at least 27 people, becoming one of the worst natural disasters in the state’s history. And, at the exact moment of this writing, the Hughes Fire broke out consuming over 9,200 acres in just a matter of hours. It is one thing to read the headlines, it is another thing entirely to be a direct victim of this tragedy, losing everything in a place you called home. Max Emerson, YouTuber, actor, author, director, and LGBTQ personality, received the news that the home that he and his fiancé Andrés restored and meant to grow their family in was burning to the ground. Max would lose more than just the house and its belongings, not even having been given the opportunity to evacuate properly. But surprisingly, he is moving forward and focusing on the future rather than his losses.

Jenny Hagel is Telling the Jokes Seth Meyers Can’t

In today’s unnerving political and social climate, what is funny and what is over the line is up for grabs. Leading by example, we are being told by our leaders that you can pretty much say anything without repercussion. Although it hasn’t been too funny. Leading the fight against stupidity with intelligence and comedy, writer and comedian Jenny Hagel is using her job at Late Night with Seth Meyers to comment on hot topics and promote conversation. As a writer and performer on the show, she is part of the wildly popular segment “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell” often touching on issues affecting the queer and minority communities with colleague Amber Ruffin. The recurring segment's popularity and relevance have made it go viral; she was nominated for a GLAAD Award for addressing LGBTQ topics. The jokes in the segment are oftentimes off-color, and they are damn funny.

Nathan Lee Graham is Laying Down the Comedic Gauntlet

Mid-Century Modern is this season’s highly anticipated TV sitcom created by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, the masterminds behind Will & Grace. In an homage to The Golden Girls, the show centers around three gay friends who decide to come together in Palm Springs to live out their golden years, with the wealthiest of the friends bringing along his mother.  The cast is an embarrassment of riches with entertainment veterans of stage and screen Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, Linda Lavin, and Nathan Lee Graham taking starring roles. Metrosource was on the scene for a live taping, and let’s just say, it’s a gay ol’ time. No doubt the show will have broad appeal, beyond the queer audience, much like Will & Grace. During these trying times, we all could use a laugh to bring us together…and this show has many.

Tourmaline’s The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P Johnson

It seems every day, our queer rights are being called into question more and more, and not just on a government level, but on a social level. Just look at the comments on any public Pride post and you’ll see what we mean. What we had just feared from the current presidential administration is now coming to fruition, and the queer community is being forced to retreat decades back.
