The speed cameras in some of Decatur's school zones will begin issuing citations for speeding violations on Nov. 13.

Bands will be performing at local businesses during the West Ponce Music Stroll on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. along West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur.

The idea for a sustainable business came about when a Decatur resident was feeling frustrated with plastic products and packaging, but didn’t have a lot of other options available.

The Decatur Downtown Development Authority has renewed funding for its three grant programs – the commercial facade improvement grant, commercial buildout improvement grant, and marketing and digital connectivity grant – that support the small businesses in the city. Applications are open through Nov. 15. 

Legacy Decatur, the nonprofit that oversees Legacy Park, is seeking to expand its board of directors from 11 members to 15. Four seats are open.

The results of the Nov. 5 general election are in, although the results still need to be certified. Candidates running for DeKalb County Commission Districts 3 and 7, and Doraville City Council District 1, Post 2 are in a runoff election.

The Avondale Estates City Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a work session, at Avondale Estates City Hall, 21 N. Avondale Plaza, and via Zoom.

The Decatur City Commission, at its Nov. 4 regular meeting, approved the concept design for the Square renovation.

The Oakhurst Center for Community is partnering with Georgia Works and A Home for Everyone in DeKalb to launch a workforce transition program in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur.

The Decatur City Commission will meet on Monday, Nov. 4, for a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Decatur City Hall, located at 509 N. McDonough Street, and virtually via Zoom. There will also be a dinner session at 5:30 p.m., an executive session at 6 p.m. and a work session at 6:30 p.m.
