Ashland’s boys basketball program has completed probation lasting about a season and a half following a 2022 violation of a bylaw prohibiting recruiting, according to the KHSAA.
“Honestly, we are very happy to close that chapter out,” Ashland Blazer High School principal Jamie Campbell said, “and our relationships with the KHSAA and our fellow member schools are paramount, and they’re a priority to us.”
The Tomcats had to rehabilitate those relationships after an audio recording of former coach Jason Mays surfaced online in the summer of 2022 telling the father of a Boyd County player, “I would love to get my hands on him.”
