Rattlesnake Raceway will be alive this weekend as Octane Fest returns. In addition to points racing, the two-day event will feature tough trucks, 1/2 cars and chariot races Friday followed by a demo derby, full contact tough trucks and outlaw karts Saturday. Racing begins at 7 p.m., on Friday and 6 p.m., on Saturday.

Five months after winning the state championship at Mackay Stadium, the Greenwave football team will welcome its big brother to its home Friday. The University of Nevada football program will visit Churchill County High School for this year’s annual spring scrimmage, beginning with several activities geared toward the fans and local youth.

The Fallon baseball and softball teams saw mixed results against Dayton last week with the Lady Wave coming back to sweep a doubleheader to win the series.

Oasis Academy needed only two nights to turn a decade of waiting into the biggest breakthrough in its basketball history. The Bighorns clinched their first girls state tournament berth with a 38‑31 Northern 2A semifinal win over Pershing County on Friday. The win came one day after earning the program’s first playoff victory, 48‑46 in overtime, against Battle Mountain.

The Oasis Academy girls basketball team is heading to the postseason for the second year in a row to face a familiar foe. Oasis, which defeated Coral Academy in Friday’s regular-season finale, finished fourth in the 2A North and will face No. 5 Battle Mountain in Thursday’s regional quarterfinal at 2 p.m. at Yerington High School.

Fallon opened the 2025 Dollamur Reno Tournament of Champions with several strong starts Friday as a handful of Greenwave wrestlers stacked early wins before running into the teeth of one of the nation’s deepest high school fields.
