Some two weeks after the Spokane Complex fires raged through the Lilac City, officials with the California Interagency Incident Management team announced Friday that they would be stepping off on Saturday.The team "would like to extend sincere thanks to the communities of the Spokane area for the incredible support, generosity and hospitality shown to the team and all the firefighters assigned to the Spokane" fires, incident spokesman Tom Stokesberry said in a news release. "The strength and compassion towards one another during this difficult time is what makes not only the community, but our country, so resilient and remarkable."

The owners of Rancho Chico Spokane, which operate two Mexican restaurants in Spokane, and one each in Colville and Omak, have agreed to pay $750,000 in mostly backpay to employees after federal authorities brought legal action on behalf of those workers.
