Tweed New Haven Airport's operators announced this week that construction should begin next year -- and wrap up by 2028 -- on a long-delayed expansion project that has ballooned in cost to $250 million.

Roughly 10 construction workers spent more than an hour stuck in an exterior elevator car that stalled halfway up the southern side of the 101 College St. lab-office building Friday afternoon. City firefighters and an elevator technician ultimately figured out how to get them down safely, with no ropes or harnesses or ladders required.
