“They learn how to do the repairs themselves, and also it teaches them from being ripped off by people who come in to do repairs for them,” said Joseph Oliver Jr.

The folks at I Need Coffee & Sushi Now in Southaven organized a fundraiser to get a new heat and air conditioning for the shelter.

“We try to take things like clothing, food, and shelter out of their daily worries,” said Executive Director Sherry McClure.

“I hope they feel lift it up, that somebody’s thinking of them or somebody’s praying for them,” said Cheryl Garth.

“They chose that day to honor the people, the caregiver, the people with Alzheimer’s. Because for them, a lot of times, every day is the longest day of the year.”

The benefit Saturday will raise funds for House of Grace, domestic violence shelter and advocacy center that service is seven counties in North Mississippi.

“The diaper bank is a basic need bank. To end diaper-need and period poverty,” said Chelsea Presley, co-founder & Executive Director of the Diaper Bank of the Delta.

“This is sort of an introduction to all of the magic that happens at the library,” said Meridith Wulff, the Regional Youth Specialist for First Regional Library.

It’s National Chimney Safety Week, and it’s a good time before the temperatures drop to make sure everything is cleaned before the holidays.

“TOPSoccer is a nonprofit organization for special needs children. We try to make sure that they learn the skills of soccer,” said Shelby Whaley.

“I thought I was gonna be an auto mechanic. I didn’t know later in life that I would end up working on people,” said Leroy Newby.
