Portland officials have granted multiple extensions to the landlord of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility as he seeks to challenge the city’s finding that the facility violated its land use permit.

The settlement comes more than three years after Portland officials filed a $10 million lawsuit against TriMet and a contractor.

Wilson's remarks came after he was asked about the Department of Homeland Security calling his recent warnings about working conditions at the site as “nothing more than a political stunt.”

“We’re gonna deliver for Portland,” Mayor Keith Wilson said. "We’re going to really focus on the turnaround that we all really wanted in our city.”

“Now is the time to model being brave rather than staying silent and hoping things will be OK," one Portland councilor said.
