COVID-19 among students climbed to new highs last week, with over 10,000 Mississippi school children testing positive for the coronavirus.

Between Sept. 2020 and Jan. 26, the Mississippi State Department of Health has reported 10 pediatric COVID-19 deaths.

The case was identified in a Hinds County resident.

Within the week, 32,009 COVID-19 cases were recorded, averaging about 4,500 new cases a day. That’s down about 20% from last week.

Qualifying health care workers caring for COVID-19 patients could get premium pay of up $5,000, under the House plan.

According to the Mississippi State Department of Health, it anticipates medical marijuana products will become available to patients in late 2022.

Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 776,717\u00a0COVID-19 cases and\u00a011,558\u00a0coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development reported 580,000 people who were homeless in the U.S. in 2020, an increase from the previous year.

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker first had the coronavirus in August. On Friday, he announced he has tested positive once again.
