The Western Christian football team secured second place in Class 2A District 1 with a Week 8 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.

By halftime, the damage was done by the Le Mars High School football team. The Bulldogs took a 38-0 lead into the intermission on Thursday night at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City against West.

"It was incredible to see a community come together in a time of need, a time of loss," said MOC-Floyd Valley head football coach Grant Hegstad. "To show they love each other, to encourage each other and root each other on.

It'll be a learn-by-doing year for the Dakota Valley football team.

The Journal's All-Area Girls Golf team is led its three by captains: Maicy Baker and Allison Heller of MOC-Floyd Valley and Hinton's Ashlyn Kramer.
