An unofficial Michigan holiday is taking place this weekend and there are several events taking place to mark the occasion.

A male and female German Shepherd were found on Oct. 28 abandoned in a black wire crate and “left for dead” in Thread Lake off Lakewood Drive in Flint, according to information previously provided by Crime Stoppers.

The opening on Monday, Nov. 10, comes after months of anticipation among Davison-area residents who watched the site undergo a complete renovation.

The job fair will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 14, at Genesee Health System, located at 1040 W. Bristol Road.

The film series, presented by Communities First, Inc. in partnership with the Flint Institute of Arts, is starting off its new season on Thursday, Nov. 13, with a showing of The Fire Inside, director Rachel Morrison’s 2024 film focused on the story of two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-division undisputed champion Flint native Claressa Shields.

The tax levied on real and personal property, according to the ballot proposal’s language, is expected to raise approximately $512,918 annually and will support the department from 2027 through 2031.

Ashley Prew resigned last month following her decision to run for a Genesee County Probate Court position.

Located at 203 N. Main St., El Charrito’s new home most recently housed Belva, a 5,000-square-foot restaurant and bar that opened in November 2022 in the former Chase Bank building.
