Pioneering West Australian winemaker John Tate — one half of a famous label that helped turn a nation’s drinkers on to the delights of drops from Margaret River and the Swan Valley — has died.

Ray Jordan’s annual white wine tasting revealed a feast of affordable drops.

The pioneering Margaret River winery was the big winner in the 2019 edition of The West Australian Wine Guide, set for release this week in bookstores and wineries across the State.

It seemed appropriate for an elated Vanya Cullen to say she was over the moon to hear that her Cullen Diana Madeline 2011 had been judged Wine of the Year in The West Australian WA Wine Guide 2014, which is officially launched at the weekend.
