As parents and students wait to find out when schools will reopen, some teachers are taking it upon themselves to start teaching from home using video streaming services like Skype.

Canada issued temporary residency permits for the Alhamadni family after recent fighting in Gaza just a kilometre from their home. Abdallah Alhamadni first shared his plea for help with CBC News in June, out of concern for the safety of his wife and children.

Sasha Ruddock, 31, beat out 30 designers from around the world in a fashion design competition. Celebrity judge Khloe Kardashian said of Ruddock on the streamed show: “I don’t think she’s going to let anyone else win this competition but her.”
