14 Jefferson County restaurants fail health inspections in September

Five Jefferson County food establishments, American Deli, Jimmy Johns, Walmart Deli, Triple S Food Store and Dollar General, scored below 85 in health inspections, while Jim N' Nicks in Homewood cleared reinspection with a 97 after months out of compliance, according to JCDH.

Handwashing violations and expired food handler training certificates were the most common infractions cited across Jefferson County food establishments inspected between Aug. 4 and Aug. 11, with scores ranging from 75 to 84.

A total of 21 food establishments scored below 85 in the month of July and failed to meet satisfactory compliance standards, according to the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH).
