A letter to staff said the resignation of “essential medical professionals” left the taxpayer-supported nonprofit unable to carry out clinical functions such as pregnancy testing and ultrasounds.
“COVID has changed so much from the first few years of the pandemic, when people got those first vaccines in 2021,” said Dr. Doug Pogue, president of BJC Medical Group.
Family Care Health Centers, a nonprofit community health care provider, will build a clinic at the corner of South Grand Boulevard and Chippewa Street in south St. Louis' Dutchtown neighborhood.
In June, 13 students arrived from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. They will spend the next two years in Jefferson County, shadowing doctors and finishing their medical degrees.
