High pressure will set us up for a fantastic day to round off the work week.

Numerous showers and storms will continue to spread through Pine Tree state for the first half of our night.

Today will be the last day we’ll have to wrangle with the heat and humidity.

High pressure will provide calm weather for much of the day today, then precipitation will begin to move into western Maine this evening and fill in from west to east late tonight.

A FIRST ALERT is in effect for both INLAND and COASTAL communities for the threat of heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain, and heavy rain.

Aside from some lingering snow showers north, expect a quiet night, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The weather will be quiet to start the work week.

A cold front will clear the coast this morning with an area of high pressure building in behind. High pressure will slip off to our east overnight and make way for our next storm system moving in Sunday night into Monday.

It will be a dry to end to our week with high pressure anchored to our south, high pressure will slip off to our east Sunday which makes room for our next weather system moving in Sunday night into Monday.

After Saturday’s record breaking heat, wintry weather greets us for the start of the work week.

Moisture associated with Ophelia will push northward into New England by the time we get into tonight bringing in some rain to mostly southern New England. The good new is, a nice high pressure system will swing southward from Quebec and act as shield from most of the rainfall here in Maine.

Low pressure will travel up the east coast and along the Maine coastline this afternoon through Tuesday morning.

As Lee traverses through the cooler waters of the Gulf of Maine, it is expected to weaken to a strong tropical storm before it makes landfall on the western tip of Nova Scotia.

Today will be the calm before the storm as high pressure is center off to our west over the Great Lakes.
