Ford has added another 58,000 F-150 pickups to its recall of the vehicles for problems with driveshaft insulators.

As the Mustang enters its seventh generation, the automaker is marking the occasion with a Stampede at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

More than 55 years ago, the Ford Bronco first appeared. Now, in honor of those first Broncos, the automaker has introduced special edition models of the current Bronco that are both retro and new.

The automotive world is moving toward hands-free or autonomous driving. In some cases, it is using small steps as it adds to the number of vehicles covered (Ford), while in other cases it is adding large numbers (Tesla). Meantime, the NHTSA is watching and investigating.

As you would expect from an automaker that has offered police departments specialized vehicles for the last 70 years, Ford has continued the policy with the addition of the Ford F-150 Lighting Police Work Truck. It is quite a vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was busy this week as it launched investigations into Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis. The probes involves almost 2 million vehicles.

In the future, drivers of all types, from the totally fit to the disabled, will have to wrestle with vehicle charging. For the disabled, charging could prove challenging so Ford is looking to robotics to assist the disabled with their EV charging chores.

Aside from leading the pickup market for another year, the Ford F-150 has just turned 75 and the automaker is celebrating the anniversary with a special edition.

Ford has recalled a number of SUVs to repair a problem with the high-voltage batteries in hybrid versions of the Lincoln Corsair and Ford Escape, essentially corporate twins.

Mercedes-Benz isn’t the only automaker that has told its owners to park their vehicles and walk as others like Hyundai and Kia have as well. For M-B, it makes sense and like Ford it’s just good public relations.

Ford’s Lightning uses its “brains” to ensure that they can tow their trailers the distance.

Ford has recalled about 200,000 Super Duty trucks to fix a potential rollaway problem. A washer in the transmission can disintegrate and become lodged in the Park position keeping the truck from remaining in Park.

Ford has recalled 253,000 Explorer SUVs to repair a problem with the drivetrain.

Ford has had a busy time with recalls. In the latest recalls, the automaker has recalled 2018 F-150s to repair rear pickup bed latches that open and to fix Transit Connect vans whose panoramic Vista roofs fly off.

Ford announced another recall this time involving its Super Duty pickups. The recall involves airbag housings that break apart they are used. It is similar to the problems that other airbag housings have experienced during the Takata scandal/recall.
