A wild otter caused chaos in a family’s kitchen when it ransacked their cupboards. Donna Mouat was preparing dinner at home in the Shetland Islands on 21 February, when her children spotted an otter eating husband Ryan’s fishing catch. This funny video shows the moment the animal runs into their open front door after the family went out to see it more closely. Mr Mouat can be seen going inside to coax the otter, out but only after a 15 minute period where it knocks over a lamp, climbs into kitchen cupboards and clambers over crockery. Mrs Mouat said: “It was very exciting but also a bit stressful from the outside as I couldn’t see what damage it might be causing.”

Martin Lewis has issued urgent advice to anyone who uses mobile phone for banking. The Money Saving Expert has warned consumers who use their phones for banking to take five key safety steps. This follows a rise in phone thefts across the UK and in particular in London, where mobile theft has risen by 40 percent. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has praised Donald Trump for his dealings with Ukraine after the US president’s Oval Office clash with Volodymyr Zelensky. Speaking on Saturday (1 March), Lavrov also brushed off talks of deploying peacekeepers in Ukraine without Moscow’s approval. Lavrov described European proposals to keep peacekeeping troops in Ukraine as “impudent,” adding that it would be impossible without Russia’s consent. He said: “Firstly, no one asks us, and Trump understands everything. He said that it is too early to say when there will be a settlement, you can discuss this issue, but the consent of the parties will be needed. He behaves correctly.”

Donald Trump appeared to make a U-turn after previously describing Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “dictator”. The US President was quizzed about his relations with Zelensky and Vladimir Putin during an Oval Office meeting with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Thursday (27 February). He was also asked about his comments calling the Ukrainian president a “dictator” earlier this month. “Do you still think President Zelensky is a dictator?”, a reporter asked Trump. The president replied: “Did I say that? “I can’t believe I said that. Next question please.”

This is the moment divers accidentally stumble across a ghostly navy ship wreckage as it emerges from the depths of ocean. Charles Kohnen was taking a client for a refresher dive aboard their SEAmagine submersible when, at around 245m deep, a large bow of a ship came out of the darkness. He said: “With the submersible’s underwater lights shining on the wreck, it really was like seeing a white ghost of a ship coming out of the darkness right beside us.“ After some research, the divers found the ship, named San Salvador II, had been part of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and had spent years tackling the drugs trade in the Caribbean. It sank in a storm in 1999 following an engine fire, with no casualties.
