The Tacoma City Council has approved an agreement with Metro Parks to purchase 2.27 acres near South Tyler and South 58th streets for future construction of a new Fire Station 7.

On Tuesday, the Port of Seattle Commission passed an order establishing the goal of permanently designating North SeaTac Park (NSTP) for recreational use.

The $85.2 million project will replace over 3,400 linear feet of the western half of the bridge.

Funds come from a federal program aimed at improving railroad safety and efficiency.

Construction contractors say they're feeling mostly optimistic about the year ahead, according to a survey released this week by the Associated General Contractors of America and Sage.
