23-year-old Harpswell man dies after boating accident

A Harrison man faces charges after shooting a teenager that knocked on his door and ran, police say.

A 5-year-old child suffered serious injuries and was flown via helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Police will not be releasing any information on the deceased until after an autopsy is completed.

People at the scene of the crash attempted to assist the driver of the car and provide medical aid, but the person did not survive.

“Just heard a terribly loud cracking, and then collapsing sound, and then some screams, and everyone knew immediately what had happened,” said a witness of the collapse.

“My good days far outnumber my bad days,” Joseph Eaton told the Press Herald. “But my bad days – they’re horrible. People get hurt.”

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the crash will be reconstructed by Maine State Police.
