In a recent lawsuit, Melanie Austin says she faced a hostile work environment and retaliation at the Missouri Department of Corrections in KC.

Brian West left his post last week, the Missouri Department of Social Services confirmed. The circumstances of his departure are not clear.

“We’re going to be working toward trying to obtain access for the family to view the body cam or dash cam videos for the police who were there and emergency responders on the early morning hours of the shooting.”

“It’s not always clear the path we need to take. So we just have to go in that step-by-step incremental approach, making sure that we’re doing it according to our policy, and so we’re not missing anything.”

“That is so wrong that my baby has no justice,” the boy’s mother said.

“I did everything they asked. I got a restraining order, I’ve done everything that I could on my end to try to defend myself. So it was just like nobody was taking it seriously.”

The move comes weeks after U.S. Rep. Sam Graves — who represents northern Missouri, including Liberty — asked the nation’s Department of Health and Human Services to assist in investigating the cancer cases.

“It’s sad to see so many teachers and staff go at once, but we understand and we believe their concerns are valid.”

Information obtained by The Star shows that Gui Jin Jiang has never been a licensed therapist with the Missouri Board of Therapeutic Massage. Records show he told police that the spa knew he didn’t have a license.

Advocates want to hear from past students or former teachers at Warren Hills Elementary who were diagnosed with cancer or other illnesses after leaving the school.

“The teachers, parents and staff at Warren Hills Elementary School need some answers as to why so many of their friends, colleagues and loved ones are being diagnosed with cancer,” US Rep. Sam Graves wrote to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“This was a preventable tragedy,” Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a release Monday. “ ... We’re holding Liberty Utilities accountable to ensure that every utility in Missouri does its due diligence to prevent future disasters.”

“We sincerely believe the cancer cases are too high to be normal and would prefer another school in the district for the safety of our children,” one family wrote in a transfer request. “They are too precious for us to risk staying.”
