Wild weather: Snow storm strands Everest hikers, Typhoon Matmo lands

An area of showers and thunderstorms developed southwest of the Edmonton region and pushed through the city and surrounding areas early this morning.

Above-average temperatures will continue in the Edmonton area through the first few days of October, but there’s a cool down coming this weekend.

Temperatures will climb into the 20s again in Edmonton.

Some thicker wildfire smoke blew back into the Edmonton area overnight and early this morning.

One more day in the mid to upper 20s and then a cooldown for Wednesday and Thursday.

Daytime highs have been in the 20s for all of the first twelve days of August. But, that streak is about to end.

Much of east-central Alberta has a chance to see a few funnel clouds develop this afternoon.

Rainfall warnings remain in effect for areas west and northwest of Edmonton.

The warm spell comes to an end on Thursday in Edmonton.
