A church event at New Canaan High School was taking place when the man was apprehended, police said. 

The Connecticut State Police trooper involved in the encounter with the YouTuber was identified as Sgt. Bryan Fahey.

An official said one person was in critical condition and the extent of others injuries was unknown. 

The family that occupied the residence is now staying with family following the fire, an official said. 

The crash happened at around midnight Sunday near Exit 15. 

The motorist involved in the crash remained at the scene, police said. 

The man is charged with first-degree reckless driving, risk of injury to a child among other charges, police said.
