"There were a lot of homeless that were sleeping there, going underneath the shelter that they have there. Cook Park was the same way. Now, they're all out of there at closing time," Woodbury County Deputy Sage Lewis said of those frequenting Sioux City's Mid City Park.

The Sioux City Council is expected to vote on a resolution to would replace the community inclusion liaison with a diversity and inclusion coordinator. The council will also consider action on permanent supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness.

The change comes on the heels of the May 28 firing of the city's first community inclusion liaison, Semehar Ghebrekidan.
