A former Oregon Army National Guardsman looks to regain some of the happiness he gets from helping others by starting a crowdfunding campaign to fund small acts of generosity.
According to investigators, Frank B. Bohannon was driving west when he rounded a
curve and was temporarily blinded by sun glare, authorities said. He came up
behind Kunsman, who was riding about two feet into the roadway and struck him.
Amir Shamim, 37, persuaded investors to give him tens of thousands of dollars
even telling one woman that he needed the cash to buy a special Arabian horse
embryo for his wife.
The concession was offered as the government and the plaintiffs battle over how best to fix the process for travelers wanting to challenge their inclusion on the roster that blocks suspected terrorists and their associates from flying in U.S. airspace.
Authorities are not currently seeking additional suspects. The couple was
identified as Gonzalo and Bertha Marquez, both 46. They have been taken to
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
In a 63-page supervisory opinion, Senior U.S. District Judge Ancer Haggerty laid
out the missteps and misconduct that he said jeopardized the government’s case
against David “Joey” Pedersen and his co-defendant, Holly Ann Grigsby, who went
on a murder spree in 2011.
Julia Lynn Haner is being held on local accusations of sex trafficking of a
minor and possession of a concealed weapon, according to an FBI news release. A
federal hold has also been placed on Haner for the charges she faces in
Portland.
Trisha Jo Homan, 45, was booked on accusations of criminally negligent homicide
after she allegedly tried to pass a car in a no-passing zone and forced it off
the road. She and the other driver had been involved in “road rage” behavior,
witnesses told police, according to a release.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Kerin, Young acted as the
ringleader for the group, planning the thefts, recruiting members, assigning
roles and serving as a lookout for 25 jewelry store heists that took place
between December 2009 and June 2011 around the country.
The ruling against the Fletchers has little practical effect on them. The family
was able to win a temporary restraining order that forced Wilson High to lift
the sports suspension it had imposed on the high school junior.
Prosecutor says the conspiracy by Harold Ray Bettencourt II, 60, and sons Harold
