As the nights draw in, the lights get twinklier and we all start to coorie down for the winter months, we wanted to explore the diverse cultures in the area and discover how our neighbours are preparing for the coming festivities.

Four initiatives around Govanhill are among the twenty-nine projects funded across the city in a move that has been welcomed by the Govanhill cycling community.

Since opening the Community Newsroom, we have been hosting regular screenings, talks and workshops. The most popular event by far was a community conversation on one of the big issues facing our neighbourhood at the moment – fly-tipping and rubbish in our lanes and back courts.

Last Friday I hosted a live radio show with local people from the community. This is the story of how we managed to produce and present an hour long radio show together with the help of Greater Govanhill and Radio Buena Vida, and how it changed the way I feel about my performance anxiety.

The charity is now seeking funding to find a permanent home in the area to offer legal advice to children and families in the area.
