Charges Pending for Black Bear Killing in Grady County

GRADY COUNTY, Ga. --On December 24th, Region 5 Captain Rick Sellars received information about a black bear being shot in Grady County. There is no open season for killing bears in Grady County so Corporal Steve Thomas began investigating the incident and soon learned the identity of the suspect and the location of where the bear was killed. After interviewing the poacher who was from Florida, Cpl. Thomas and GW Taylor Brown seized the bear hide and meat as evidence and charges are pending.

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. -- In a special called board meeting, at 3:30 p. m. on Tuesday, January 19, the Griffin-Spalding Board of Education voted 5-0 to name Keith Simmons as the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) School Superintendent. Simmons is a veteran educator and has served as teacher, coach, Dean of Students, assistant principal, principal and chief of staff during his 25+ year career in education.
