An armed robber was shot at by Pierce County sheriff’s deputies early Monday after he refused to drop his gun outside the Walmart in the 20300 block of Mountain Highway East in Spanaway. He later fatally shot himself.

Matthew Gantt, 42, of Lakewood, was arraigned Monday in Pierce County Court on charges of second-degree murder in the death of his 15-month old daughter. She was found unresponsive in his home Oct. 6 and died three days later from a skull fracture.

Michelle Webb had a restraining order against her husband when he allegedly T-boned her car at 50 mph, flipping her vehicle into a Parkland apartment building. After waking up from a coma, she says she fears he might kill her if he gets out of jail.

Xavier Black, 27, appears in Pierce County Superior Court Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 on a charge of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Lino Shepard, 21, last Thursday. Black was ordered jailed in lieu of $1 million.
