Facing a ranked opponent for the second straight week, the Blue Devils traveled down to Coral Gables, Fla., to take on No. 5 Miami. After the first 30 minutes of play, Duke leads the home squad 21-17.

Duke is not a bad team, but it’s also not a great team; there are holes for the Blue Devils on each side of the ball. Saturday’s loss to Miami forced these problems to the surface and revealed that while Duke has played near its ceiling all season, it is far from ready to hang with a top team for four quarters.

For the ACC slate, our football beat writers predict whether the Blue Devils will pick up a win in their weekly matchup. In the final matchup of the regular season, Duke will travel to take on Wake Forest at noon Saturday. 

The second was true for freshman Isaiah Evans Wednesday night, as his six first-half triples paved the way for No. 8 Duke’s 84-78 win at home against the second-ranked Auburn Tigers. Graduate guard Sion James — who made his debut in the starting lineup — chipped in nine crucial points, and freshman Cooper Flagg recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Crystal Mangum, the woman who falsely accused three Duke men’s lacrosse players of rape in 2006, admitted she lied about the allegations and asked for David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann’s forgiveness.

Head coach Manny Diaz is looking to put an exclamation mark on a successful first season at the helm of Duke football by winning the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. Heading into the locker room, though, the Blue Devils are trailing 24-7. 

As painful as the loss was for the Blue Devils — especially graduating players like wideout Jordan Moore, who was forced to put into words his lasting legacy on the program after the game — it was a necessary step in where Diaz hopes to take the program. Duke learned some key lessons, and one rose above all else: Football starts and ends with the quarterback.

On Wednesday night in the K Center, 221 tents — each consisting of between 10-12 undergraduate students — tried their hands at the annual Krzyzewskiville black tenting test. To put that figure in perspective, that’s roughly 41% of the undergraduate population. The number of tents in this year’s process are the most ever, according to an email to the The Chronicle from the line monitors, who administered the test and are in charge of the tenting process.

After a trio of home wins, the Blue Devils are back on the road to take on Boston College. In front of a roaring crowd at Conte Pavilion, Duke heads into the halftime locker room leading the Eagles 40-34.

Coming into the latest iteration of the Tobacco Road rivalry, Duke was looking to make yet another statement atop the ACC while North Carolina desperately needed a focal point on which to turn around its season. Through 20 minutes, the Blue Devils have gotten their way, storming out to a 47-25 halftime lead.
