15 years serving Vermont

Police say Jerry Normandin, 65, sexually abused a juvenile over a two-year span while he was awaiting trial on charges related to two other sexual abuse cases that involved young males.

Vermont State Police called the case “an isolated event” but have released few details.

Brian Crossman Jr., 22, a resident of Granville, New York, is facing three counts of aggravated murder in the fatal shootings of his father, stepmother and stepbrother, according to Vermont State Police.

Tucked away in the back of the City Center building in downtown Montpelier, a small group of volunteers worked on a recent Tuesday to unload over 700 pounds of food just transported from the Vermont Foodbank's warehouse in Barre. Within a few hours, the metal shelves they stocked would be nearly bare once again. 

Mbyayenge Mafuta, 23, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault Thursday morning in the December 2022 beating of Jeffery Hall in the cell that the men shared. Hall later died from his injuries.
